Our Catholic Community in the area of East Cleveland is made up of three Parishes. The oldest of the three Churches is 'Our Lady, Star of the Sea' which can be found at the top of Staithes Bank.

The first image you'll see is of the front tower and at the very top a beautifully carved image of Our Lady, Star of the Sea. It's very fitting having a Church so close to the Coast for Our Lady, as it were, to keep watch over us all.

There is a life-size copy of the Pieta which has been relocated near the entrance of the grounds. It was made to commemorate those who died in the First and Second World Wars. There is a brass plaque inside the Church with the names of the young men who died for our freedom.

St. Anthony of Padua, which is located in Brotton has its very own feeling of a place of Peace. It has a very sacred aroma which you can feel, touching the pews or looking at the images depicted around the altar. Angels and Saints all look towards the Tabernacle.

Ss. Joseph & Cuthbert is the largest of the three parishes. It is also the youngest building out of the three. There are several stained glass windows that adorn this beautiful Church. Saint Margaret Clitherow sparkles when the sunlight shines through her. Also, another local, Blessed Nicholas Postgate, was a priest who ministered to communities around East Cleveland.

As a whole community, we are deeply rooted in faith and the love of God. We believe worship is not just found in prayer, it’s something expressed in everything we do.

Our philosophy is deeply rooted in the Holy Scriptures, life’s only guidebook. Come and join us to experience God’s grace for yourself. There’s a special place for you at our welcoming Community.
